Home Stay
When it comes down
to homestay, it's all about language immersion. If
you've come to Nepal to study Nepali language and
culture, CLCT's Learn Nepali with a Homestay
programs are the best option. CLCT strives to
immerse its students in a living environment that
constantly requires them to speak, listen, read and
write Nepali. In fact, we believe so strongly in the
benefits of living with a homestay that it's the
only living option we offer to our students.
As a fully
integrated family member, you will participate in
the daily ins and outs of Nepali living including
eating meals together, celebrating festivals,
watching TV, and bargain shopping. Important to
note, though you are living with another family, you
still will enjoy the comforts of your own private
bedroom.
To ensure you have
a safe and positive experience, before allowing a
family to host foreigners, CLCT conducts a thorough
interview and security check. Our hosts are
particularly excited and welcoming toward
foreigners. Should you have any questions or
concerns, don't hesitate to ask your family! That's
what they are there for. They welcome questions from
curious students and travelers. Our staff will also
be available at all times to assist you if
necessary. The
character and structure of these families vary
considerably. Homestay families arranged by CLCT
screened and approved each family's suitability.
These families represent a variety of occupational,
educational and economic levels and live in diverse
neighborhoods, towns and rural settings. Families
include one or more adults and may or may not
include children.
This opportunity facilitates cultural immersion,
helps develop further language skills and provides a
context for your academic learning. By adapting to
the lifestyle of a family, you will be able to see
and experience the essential nature of Nepali life
and also learn about the cultural differences
between your own and Nepali ways. Students
frequently cite the homestay as an excellent way of
learning about the people and culture. |
